The Scorch Trials is a novel written by James dasher and it is the second book in The Maze Runner series. This story is about Thomas and his friends crossing the Scorch, a devastated place burned by radiation, after escaping from the Maze of WICKED (World In Catastrophy Killzone Experiment Department). WICKED is an institute that is experimenting with kids like Thomas and infecting them with “The Flare”, a dangerous disease that transforms the people into monsters like zombies named Cranks. After Thomas and the other teenagers realize that they are infected with The Flare they are told by WICKED they have to get a cure and to find it they have to go all over the dangerous Scorch that is infested with Cranks. The teenagers manage to get to “Safe Heaven” alive to get the “cure” but everything was another part of WICKED’s experiment.
I think this is a book that everyone should read because it is really interesting. This story has a lot of suspense and you can never predict was is coming next so the reader wants to read and read more. I think the author handled really well the main themes: manipulation and fear because there is not a single part in this story were the teenagers didn't felt fear and confusion because they couldn't even believe their own minds due to the manipulation that WICKED did to them because everything was a lie. I really enjoyed this book because when I finished reading it I wanted to know what happened next with Thomas and his friends so I recommend it to everyone that read The Maze Runner. I will also recommend it to people that like reading suspense and action books because this story has both. This is a really good book and everyone should read it.
